CHILD ART APRONS

We made child art aprons for my friends little girls. We made the aprons from oil cloth so the paint will just wipe off. We got the fabric from Hancock Fabrics. I know my friends want to kill me for giving their one year old and two year old paint but I couldn't resist!

BURLAP PILLOWS

We made burlap pillows for Christmas gifts this year. You can find burlap pillows everywhere now. They are even using old burlap sacks to make pillows that have cool designs on them. We used stencils and fabric paint to make our designs. First...

Cut the fabric to the desired length/width to fit the size pillow you would like. We used 18"x12". We backed the burlap with canvas for added integrity. Sew the canvas to the burlap.

Then you can cut the burlap close to the canvas once you have sewed it. If you skip this step the burlap will unravel on you quick. Sew three sides of the pillow inside out (canvas side showing). Flip the pillow right side out then....

Iron it flat....

Then stencil the desired design. With fabric paint.
Let it dry. Don' think perfection with the paint.
The look you are going for is rustic.

Then you want to stuff the pillow with a filler and sew the bottom. That quick and easy you can have a cute decorative pillow. We found the burlap at Hobby Lobby they also have it at Tony's Fabrics. Great for yourself or to give as a... wedding gift... house warming gift or birthday!

CHAIR & PILLOW

I really needed a chair for my desk and didn't want to spend much money buying one. My mom had this chair that she wasn't using. I wish I had taken a before picture.  The chair was in desperate need of a make over. For this project all you need is a staple gun, wood stain and fabric that you love. We stained the wood a little darker... make sure it is dry before you place the seat in. For the seat we added a little padding, held the fabric over the seat then went to town with the staple gun. So next time your at a yard sale or an antique store and find a chair in good shape but you are not so crazy about the seat give it a little make over.

We also made a long pillow for the bed. The fabric is a great neutral and goes with anything. It is a nice repeat from the living room to the bed room. The fabric came from Tony's Fabrics.

FABRIC REMNANT!!!

I found this fabric remnant at Antiques on Augusta.
They have different vendor's who rent booths and I
guess a vendor was trying to get rid of some extra
remnants they had.  They only wanted $8 for it.
I knew I had seen the same fabric before at another
store. I then went to a local interior design store and
found the same fabric. I asked if they sold it by the yard...
they do for $88.00 a yard!!! They had made a fabulous pillow
with it, but it was a very expensive fabulous pillow.
I went back to the antique store and the remnant is mine.
We are thinking of making a long pillow for the bed and
backing it with a neutral fabric. It is about 21" x 56".
Keeping checking back to see what we make !

Pillow, Slip Cover and Throw

Mom and I made this pillow! We got the gorgeous
fabric from Tony's Fabrics. We used a 24X24 pillow form.
We also made a slip cover for this chair and ottoman. We used canvas, you can also use duck cloth. With light fabrics don't forget the Scotch Guard to protect against stains. The throw is backed with canvas.
